Join a friendly group travelling to North Argentina on an Epic Easter Ride 14.04 -21.04.2019
The City of Salta, “The Pretty” will be our starting point for our Epic Easter Ride. Salta is a beautiful city in Northern Argentina famous for the colonial architecture, history and fantastic museums.
Quebrada de Humahuaca is a narrow mountain valley in Northern Argentina. Most importantly it is known for dramatic rock formations and hills and indigenous Quechuan villages. The rocky, multihued slopes of the Seven Colours Hill rise above the Spanish colonial village of Purmamarca. It is famous for the surrounding desert landscapes. Quebrada de Humahueca has been a World Heritage site by UNESCO since 2003.
Riding old Inca tradilng routes is the best way to take in the landscape. We are camping in high altitude watching milky way and sharing stories after a day in the saddle.
We cross the Quebrada de Humahuaca on horseback, travelling 2,324 m above the sea level therefore having Cerro de los Siete Colores as the multicoloured mountain backdrop. Riding through the villages we meet the locals at the colourful markets selling arts and crafts. Tilcara is an ancient pre-Hispanic town therefore Pre-Inca ruins and lively festivals are just some of the highlights that Tilcara has to offer. The stone ruins of a warrior tribe, the Pucará de Tilcara offers insight into the daily triumphs and struggles of the people who flourished here over 10,000 years ago.
These towns are natural emblems offering us wonderful horizons that feed the traveller’s spirit.
During this Epic Easter Ride we will able to share life stories with local people. This is your chance to cross the fascinating places in the Quebrada on Peruvian Paso horses.
